7 Filipino Students Who Excel In Web3 Leadership
Thinking about Web3 and Cryptocurrency, those who are unfamiliar with the space may picture the industry as full of adult professionals who are working relentlessly to build technology. However, Web3 is made of an unpredictable yet ecstatic culture from Gen-Zs, Millennials, and to other generations as well. Web3’s nature has allowed for diversity to flourish all over the globe.
In the Philippines, student leaders are rising above to take the challenge of leading the Web3 industry at such a young age. In this article, 6 Filipino students are applauded for their efforts in building the Web3 industry in their respective communities and all over the Philippines.
Jed Tan
Jed Tan, also known as TraderKreios, is a highly sought out trading coach and educator that aims to provide knowledge to users on the volatile nature of the cryptocurrency market and how to leverage it. He is also the CEO and CTO of KreiosLabs, a trading analytics platform designed to help traders find better trades in seconds. He is a computer science student from UP Dilimman who is also a two-time Bybit trading competition champion, placing 1st place and 2nd place in the competitions he has participated
Recently, his expertise in Web3 has allowed him to achieve the feat of winning first place in a Whack-A-Thon organized by The BLOCK and Junior Blockchain Education Consortium of the Philippines.
Dawn Bensig
Dawn Bensig is a 4th year Civil Engineering student hailing from Ormoc, Leyte who experienced exponential growth being a Web3 leader by being a Project Manager for WAV3. Before being immersed as one of the core leaders of Web3 Cebu, he was a cryptocurrency trader. Now, he has aided Web3 Cebu in community building and event planning which has allowed him to provide valuable insights in Web3 and Crypto Trading to the people he meets.
Recently, he was invited by Superteam Philippines to participate in the Solana Apac Summit last June 19-21 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His experience in Malaysia will surely bring valuable insights that he vows to aid his community.
Adrian Alquizar
Adrian Alquizar is a 2nd year Information Technology student who has experience in coding, NFT art, community management, and cryptocurrency trading. His participation in Web3 events in Cebu has allowed him to become one of the core leaders who provide direction to the community and become the Technical Lead for WAV3.
He is also the lead of Junior Blockchain Education Consortium of the Philippines for Asian College of Technology, an organization that aims to empower students about the influence and impact of blockchain technology.
Recently, he was given the prestigious position to become a member of Superteam Philippines. This has granted him to become one of the youngest members to become part of a talented organization, cementing his ability in Web3 expertise.
Krishia Dela Cruz
Krishia Dela Cruz is a student at UP Diliman and is also the CEO and Co-founder of Kasha Ph, a clothing e-commerce platform showcasing locally made garments that allows shoppers to get the perfect fit through our AI body scanning and size recommendation.
Krishia’s Web3 journey started at the Unblokc Hackathon 2023 by The Blokc where their concept won as Grand Winners. Kasha PH also won National Champions in Qompete 2024 by QBO. From there, Krishia became interested in web3 technologies and is exploring integrating blockchain technology in their platform.
Krishia is actively participating in Web3 events and looks to leverage the Blockchain and AI to revolutionize apparel shopping to get the perfect fit. Krishia’s vision with Web3 and AI leads with personalizing and providing a seamless shopping experience while fostering trust through transparent and secure data practices.
Denrei Keith De Jesus
Denrei Keith De Jesus is a computer science student from the University of Mindanao who started his Web3 journey with play-to-earn games like Axie Infinity. In 2023, Denrei decided to further pursue his interest in Web3 by participating in the ICP Meetup: BUIDL Camp in Davao which led him to be further immersed with the local Web3 community.
Through attending multiple Solana Ecosystem Calls in Davao, He was given the opportunity to become a key speaker in a Solana Ecosystem Call to cover the topic around Opportunities in Tech Communities. Recently, Denrei has been chosen as one of the students who will participate in Solana Breakpoint, a grand event in Singapore that focuses on the areas growth and future of Blockchain technology. Denrei’s ability to leverage opportunities presented to him has accelerated his growth as a student Web3 leader in Davao.
Sean Cosep
Sean Cosep is an Information Technology student from Polytechnic University of the Philippines who is also the chapter president of DEVCON Laguna, an organization that helps students navigate the world of tech. Sean’s experience in Web3 involves handling, creating, and actively participating in both WEB 3.0 and Tech Startup events.
His involvement in Web3 has allowed him to become a key contributor to the success of the Blockchain Campus 2024 Conference. He will also be participating in the Road To Breakpoint 2024, a prestigious event in Singapore that is powered by Solana Foundation and Superteam Philippines.
Oliver Santos
Oliver Santos is a marketing student from the University of Makati and is also the Business Development lead of Web3PH, an organization that is focused on advocating for Web3 mass adoption in the Philippines. His efforts in Web3 as a student has led him to be a key figure within Web3 PH as he is also a core member of the organization.
Recently, he spearheaded an event with ATT3ND which was held in the presence of executives and tech leaders from Singlife, Google Cloud, Netcloud, and many more prestigious tech companies. These are one of the few efforts that showcase Oliver’s ability to become a Web3 leader as a student by providing an avenue for individuals to know more and enter the space of Web3.
These student Web3 leaders have been immersed in Web3 and cryptocurrency for the past few years, making them ahead of the curve to being a positive influence to Web3 communities. With the growth and impact of Web3 being felt across the globe at a tremendous pace, more and more students will take leadership roles in Web3 to not only get a headstart but also out of passion for the love of this space.
