Bitskwela held its Web3-themed debate event, Bull or Bear, at the City College of Calapan in Oriental Mindoro on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Taking place in the Kalap Hall on the third floor of the Kalap Building, the event aimed to raise awareness about blockchain and Web3 technologies in the region. The gathering attracted a full house of students, tech enthusiasts, and industry leaders eager to discuss the future of Web3.

The primary goal of Bull or Bear: Web3 in Mindoro was to enhance public understanding of Web3 technologies while inspiring innovation within the local ecosystem. The event also sought to build a stronger sense of community among Web3 and Web2 industry stakeholders, offering students valuable insights and recommendations about the potential impact of these technologies. Policymakers, regulators, and students alike were encouraged to rethink how Web3 could shape the future.

Co-presented by OKX and supported by Aptos, Vana, DICT Region IVB - Mimaropa, the ICT Industry Development Bureau, and OKX Wallet, this event was a collaborative effort to educate and engage the community.

Pre-Debate Highlights

Before the debate began, the event was opened with introductions by Bitskwela's CEO, Jiro Reyes, followed by an inspiring message from Emmy Lou Delfin, Director of DICT Region IVB - Mimaropa, setting the tone for Bull or Bear: Mindoro. Jiro Reyes then took the stage again to deliver an informative talk on the fundamentals of blockchain, providing the audience with a solid foundation for the discussions ahead.

The event continued with two insightful workshops. Miks Geron led the first workshop, covering the basics of crypto trading and offering practical knowledge for both beginners and enthusiasts. Following that, Gilbert Lazaro, also known as TitoVlogs, shared his insights on the state of blockchain in the Philippines, highlighting how Web3 technology is poised to transform the nation's digital landscape.
