Cebu to Host Blockchain Conference During Sinulog Week 2025!
Central Visayas is set to host its first-ever blockchain conference—the Cebu Blockchain Conference 2025 (CBC 2025)—from January 17 to 18, 2025, at the IEC Convention Center (IC3) in Cebu City. This landmark event will showcase the region’s commitment to embracing blockchain technology and fostering innovation in the digital economy.
The two-day conference will feature an exciting lineup of keynote speeches, interactive booths, and networking opportunities, offering a platform for Web3 builders, developers, entrepreneurs, and enthusiasts to exchange ideas and explore blockchain’s transformative potential.
Cebu is the second largest tech hub in the Philippines and with an existing community of builders, including startups, keen to propel Cebu as the next representative tech hub of Southeast Asia. It also has international connectivity through its Mactan-Cebu airport. Happening on the week of Sinulog Festival, CBC 2025 promises a dynamic mix of cultural celebration and technological advancement. This convergence is expected to attract a diverse audience of local and international participants, including industry leaders, investors, and blockchain builders.
Empowering Blockchain Communities in the Philippines
CBC 2025 aims to bring together key stakeholders from government agencies, tech communities, startups, and academia to advance blockchain adoption in Central Visayas. The event will provide attendees with actionable insights, real-world use cases, and opportunities to collaborate on projects that could redefine the digital economy in the Philippines.
Behind this event is WAV3, a leading Cebu-based startup dedicated to empowering Web3 projects through events, marketing, and talent development. Partnering with WAV3 is Web3 Cebu, the largest Web3 community in the region, with over 1,000 members comprising developers, traders, entrepreneurs, and gamers. Together, they aim to solidify Cebu’s position as a blockchain hub by fostering education, innovation, and community engagement.
Interview with Raine Laluna, Co-Organizer of the Event
What inspired Raine to organize this conference?
Raine’s inspiration came from attending a Bali conference, where she realized that web3 awareness among decision-makers remains low—she’d rate it just 1 or 2 out of 10. With over three years of experience working with startups, tech communities, and schools, she saw an opportunity to bring better resources and elevate the conversation beyond crypto trading.
By aligning the event with Sinulog, Cebu’s renowned cultural festival, Raine aims to highlight the city’s potential as a tech and innovation hub while drawing global attention to its rich culture.
What are the expectations for the attendees?
The conference is expected to draw 500-1,000 attendees, with a program tailored to various industries to showcase how blockchain technology can be leveraged. For Cebuanos and nearby cities, this marks the first major blockchain conference—an opportunity to network, explore web3 beyond crypto, and assess potential opportunities in this emerging field. Side events will complement the main program, providing additional learning and networking platforms.
For sponsors, the event offers a chance to establish connections within a growing tech hub and align their brand with Cebu’s emerging role in the blockchain and tech space.
