The Ethereum Foundation is hosting Devcon, its top developer and community conference, in Bangkok from November 12 to 15, 2024. This important event will attract developers, innovators, and thought leaders from around the world. It will place a strong focus on Southeast Asia, showcasing a diverse lineup of speakers and community leaders from the region.

A Unique Event at the Intersection of Technology and Society

Devcon distinguishes itself from typical crypto events, which often prioritize market trends and trading, by concentrating on education, community, and the core cypherpunk values of decentralized technologies. The event is dedicated to discussing the future of technology and society, encouraging developers, change-makers, students, and researchers to investigate how Ethereum can influence different areas of our lives.

Hosted in Bangkok, Devcon 7 is set to make an impact throughout Southeast Asia, an area well-known for its high levels of crypto adoption and lively developer communities. The conference aims to drive innovation and facilitate collaboration in decentralized technologies across the region.

A Regional Gathering with Global Impact

Expected to welcome over 10,000 global attendees, Devcon 7 will take place at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in Bangkok. A large portion of the speakers, developers, and participants will be from Southeast Asia. The event aims to highlight the region's technological talent and innovation, fostering collaboration in decentralized technologies on both regional and global stages.

Building on Past Success

Following the successful Devcon 6 in Bogotá, which attracted 6,000 attendees and included 444 speakers along with more than 200 hours of programming, Devcon 7 aims to advance discussions in both technical and non-technical areas. The focus will be on the future of Ethereum and a variety of topics that lie at the crossroads of technology, society, and innovation.

Featured Speakers

The event will feature top tier programming, with notable speakers including:

  • Vitalik Buterin: Co-founder of Ethereum
  • Aya Miyaguchi: Executive Director of the Ethereum Foundation
  • Matthew Tan (Etherscan), TN Lee (Pendle), and Loi Luu (Kyber Network & Caliber): Founders sharing experiences from Southeast Asia
  • Sreeram Kannan: Founder of EigenLayer
  • Roger Dingledine: Co-founder of The Tor Project
  • Hart Montgomery: CTO at the Linux Foundation

The decision to host Devcon 7 in Bangkok emphasizes the rising significance of Thailand and Southeast Asia in the global technology sector. Boasting vibrant tech communities and a high rate of blockchain adoption, the event presents exceptional opportunities for developers, students, and change-makers to network and work together on initiatives that will shape the region's decentralized technology future.
