FIFA, the global football governing body, is teaming up with Mythical Games to launch FIFA Rivals, a mobile football game set to hit iOS and Android in 2025. Unlike traditional football simulations, FIFA Rivals offers an arcade-style experience where players can build, manage, and compete with their own custom soccer teams. Featuring officially licensed football stars, iconic clubs, and legendary players, the game will give fans a fresh, interactive way to connect with the sport they love.

What makes FIFA Rivals stand out is its use of blockchain technology, powered by Polkadot through the Mythos blockchain. Players will have full control over their in-game assets, from star players to collectibles. These assets can be owned, bought, sold, and traded in marketplaces, both within the game and online, creating a sustainable play-to-earn economy that gives players more say in their gaming experience.

This isn’t FIFA’s first venture into the world of Web3. The organization has already explored blockchain-powered features during major tournaments like the FIFA World Cup and Women’s World Cup. With FIFA Rivals, FIFA is doubling down on its commitment to innovation, expanding its esports portfolio to bring fans even closer to the action. The game will also connect with FIFA’s esports platform, giving players opportunities to compete globally or simply enjoy the experience as fans.

Mythical Games, the studio behind the project, has plenty of expertise in blending blockchain technology with gameplay. Their previous titles, such as NFL Rivals and Blankos Block Party, have already shown just how much the technology can enhance the whole gaming experience. With FIFA Rivals, the partnership aims to draw millions of football fans and gaming enthusiasts into Web3.

FIFA Rivals blends fast-paced gameplay with strategic team management and blockchain technology. Scheduled for release in summer 2025, the game is designed to appeal to players of all ages, from hardcore football fans to casual players looking for a fresh challenge.

John Linden, founder and CEO of Mythical Games, shared that FIFA Rivals will follow a similar model to NFL Rivals. The game will feature a highly tradable and shareable economy, designed to appeal to a global audience.

This new launch is part of FIFA’s broader strategy to engage younger audiences through exciting and accessible gaming experiences. FIFA Rivals aims to take traditional football into the future of the web. Fans can look forward to building their dream squads, competing globally, and enjoying football like never before.

But that’s not all. John Linden revealed, “We’ve crossed 6 million wallets on the [Mythos] chain right now and I think we’re gonna see a whole lot more in 2025.” The company is also gearing up to expand its ecosystem with 5-6 additional external games set to launch on the Mythos chain in the near future.

With the Mythos chain set to expand with additional games and millions of wallets already onboarded, the potential for growth in this ecosystem is limitless. FIFA Rivals isn’t just a game—it’s a gateway to the future of sports, entertainment, and blockchain-powered innovation, ensuring football fans and gamers alike play a part.
