Metaverse Filipino Workers (MFW) Caravan: Powered by YGG Pilipinas
MFW Movement
Metaverse Filipino Worker is a growing movement of Filipinos embracing new ways to earn, learn and succeed, where they can seek flexible income, digital careers, and financial freedom — without having to leave their home in search of these opportunities.
In January 2025, YGG Pilipinas launched a short film on YouTube that honors the creativity and determination of its community, spotlighting the unique human-centered stories that are driving a new era of work and innovation. The film marked the first stage of a campaign to educate and upskill millions of Filipinos for meaningful participation in the global decentralized digital economy.
With the film garnering over 1 million views in less than two weeks upon its release, the MFW movement continues to gain momentum and inspire more Filipinos to explore new career paths in digital industries that offer economic mobility and global opportunities, no matter where they are located.
MFW Film
Metaverse Filipino Worker is a short film exploring how Filipinos are embracing Web3 as a new frontier for work. Born out of the play-to-earn boom of 2021, the concept of the MFW has evolved from players simply grinding for in-game tokens to highly skilled professionals shaping the global decentralized economy.
From the bustling streets of Metro Manila to the tranquil rice fields of Pampanga and Nueva Ecija, the film takes a peek into the daily lives of key members from YGG Pilipinas — a Community Manager, an Esports Captain, a Guild Leader, a Mommy Influencer, and more — each forging their own path in the rapidly growing Web3 workforce. Watch it directly at MFW.Life.
Written and directed by the creators of the viral 2021 short film, Play-to-Earn: NFT Gaming in the Philippines, and with an original score by L!NE OUTS!DE — the collaborative banner of Apl.de.Ap of the Black Eyed Peas and Edgar “Artek606” Sinio — Metaverse Filipino Worker brings together leading creative voices in Web3. The animated title sequence was created by Manila-based NFT artist Lucius Felimus, known for his cyberpunk visions of Metro Manila.

Whether individuals are new to Web3 or seasoned enthusiasts, her goal is to facilitate their journey as they pursue their passions in this industry. She does this through education, upskilling, and advice on future career opportunities.

Brylle “Arpo” Uytiepo, Head of Growth | YGG Alerts Founder and Head
A chef by profession, Brylle “Arpo” Uytiepo went from creating dishes in Michelin Star restaurants to building the biggest local Web3 media brand in the Philippines. After graduating from De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde, Arpo worked in a Michelin Star restaurant in Northern Italy in 2018. During the rise of Axie Infinity, Arpo found himself diving into Web3 and starting Axies Alerts PH, now YGG Alerts, which became a major news source for everything Axie Infinity. With the rapid rise in its following, the news outlet was noticed by Luis Buenaventura, who was YGG’s Country Manager for the Philippines at the time. Arpo was formally invited to be part of YGG, and he has since continued to lead and develop YGG Alerts and YGG Pilipinas’ Growth team, both of which leverage the teamwork-related skills he’d developed as a chef.

Spraky, Community Lead
A man of the people, Spraky started in Web3 as a “scholar,” someone who rented or borrowed assets for Web3 games so they could be part of the play-to-earn ecosystem. Before that, he was a Head of Engineering for Water Utilities, on top of connecting and maintaining water lines to reach homes and businesses. Now, as the YGG Pilipinas Community Lead, Spraky still builds and maintains connections, but this time, he is connecting Web3 to community members. Similar to how he made water reach homes and businesses, Spraky makes sure that opportunities reach the next generation of gamers through play and other initiatives.

Regina “Reg” Patelo, Events Lead
Before YGG, Reg worked as a Project Manager for a well-known esports and marketing agency in the Philippines. Aside from Web2 events, Reg also has years of experience in corporate and social events, which has contributed to the success of YGG Pilipinas’ initiatives and showcases. As Events Lead, Reg spearheads the creation and construction of physical spaces, tangible moments, and memorable experiences that bring YGG Pilipinas’ vision and mission to life.
YGG Pilipinas Community Leaders

Kookoo, Kookoo Crypto TV
Kookoo is one of the strongest examples of how life-changing the Web3 revolution can be. Before the pandemic, Kookoo worked as an Uber driver and waiter, turning to Axie Infinity as a way to make ends meet during that difficult time. He found massive success in the game, earning enough as an Axie breeder to purchase his dream house and set his parents up for retirement.
Today, Kookoo is one of the biggest advocates of Axie Infinity and spends most of his time creating content to help new players follow his path to success. He is also one of the mentors for YGG’s Superquests in Axie Infinity: Origins, where he developed and led a series of tutorials for new players getting started in Web3 gaming through Axie.

Joniel “JB” Bon, Founder, NFTXStreet
After working in the IT industry for over a decade, JB discovered the play-to-earn movement and joined the Filipino Axie Infinity community as a scholarship manager for YGG.
Throughout the bear market, JB helped the YGG community find opportunities in Web3 by founding his own guild, NFTXStreet, and later establishing a brick-and-mortar gaming hub of the same name. Today, JB continues to onboard new players to Web3 gaming through IRL bootcamps at NFTXStreet, where the guild regularly meets up and plays together.

Ian “Disi” Dela Cruz
Disi is the team captain of YGG Esports. His Web3 journey began during the pandemic when he decided to stream his gameplay of Axie Infinity on Twitch. By a stroke of luck, he was gifted top-level Axies to play with by a random viewer. This led Disi on the path to compete on the Axie leaderboards, which drew the attention of YGG, where he joined as one of its first KOLs. Over the years, Disi has brought his expertise onto other Web3 games such as Parallel, for which he created a tutorial series on how to climb the leaderboards just by using starter decks.

What is an MFW? Is it the same as an OFW?
Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and Metaverse Filipino Workers (MFWs) both seek better-paying jobs beyond the Philippines. The difference? OFWs cross borders by bus, boat, train, or plane, while MFWs do so with a computer or smartphone, internet connection, and a crypto wallet.
For decades, millions of Filipinos have made the difficult decision to leave their families behind, enduring the emotional toll of separation to provide for their loved ones. While OFWs have long demonstrated the resilience and adaptability of Filipino workers in the global economy, this often comes at the cost of missing milestones, strained relationships, and the challenge of being physically absent.
Now, the rise of Metaverse Filipino Workers (MFWs) offers an alternative. Enabled by blockchain and the open Metaverse, MFWs can access new career paths in Web3—earning, learning, and contributing to a global digital economy without leaving home. This shift presents a new frontier where economic opportunity doesn’t have to come at the expense of family and community.
How much money can MFWs earn?
It depends. Some Metaverse Filipino Workers (MFWs) treat it as a way to earn extra income—pocket money for daily expenses—while others build full-time careers in Web3 gaming, content creation, community management, and other digital work. The beauty of being an MFW is its flexibility—you can start small, take on gigs in your free time, or go all in and make it a sustainable career. Earnings vary depending on skills, time invested, and the opportunities available, whether that’s earning from questing platforms like ARC and G!G, securing freelance gigs, or competing in esports tournaments.
But beyond the financial rewards, being an MFW offers something just as valuable: new skills, a strong community, and a sense of fulfillment. Many MFWs discover career paths they never considered, gaining expertise in Web3, marketing, gaming, and digital ownership while connecting with like-minded individuals worldwide. Whether you’re looking for extra income, a side hustle, or a long-term career, being an MFW opens doors to both earning potential and personal growth.
