Web3 Leader Spotlight of the Day: John Mark Fernandez
Introducing John Mark Fernandez, a content creator who focuses on blockchain content. His works do not only bring news to the audience, but also provide them value in terms of cryptocurrency knowledge. Garnering millions of overall views in his channel, John Mark continues to play an important role in informing the Filipino audience on Web3.
Can you give us a background of what you do?
I used to work as a community manager for various crypto companies, but now, I do content creation full-time.
What made you interested in Web3?
It started during the pandemic, when I stumbled upon videos of Robert Kiyosaki talking about finance. After countless hours of watching his video, I got a recommendation about a topic called Bitcoin, which I've already heard of but had no real interest in. However, this video answered a question I had been wondering about for a very long time – how our money system actually came about, which led me to a rabbit hole about crypto, and has made me very interested until now.
How is working/building in Web3 different from other industries?
Web3 is widely different, as the practices done here are so different from those in other industries. Web3 focuses much more on what you can do, or the results you bring than the previous titles or academic achievements you have. It also is widely experimental due to its young age, which brings a whole lot of opportunity to innovation but obviously with a much higher risk of failure.
What’s your proudest achievement in Web3?
One of my proudest achievements in Web3 is being able to reach millions of people through my videos and share my thoughts and learnings with the audience. This led me to being able to be one of the main providers in our family in my early 20s, which is something I'm also very proud of.
If there’s something you would like to change in your Web3 journey, what would it be?
Personally, I don't want to change anything about my journey, as I believe every part of it has made me who I am today.
What’s the biggest problem that you think Web3 can solve?
Definitely corruption, because one of the only things that separates Web3 from typical tech is blockchain and decentralization, and I believe these two would be able to solve corruption on a large scale.
What’s your BTC price prediction in 2030?
Obviously, no one can predict exactly where it would go, but I would take a calculated guess and believe it would be at the minimum of $1 million per bitcoin.
