Web3 Leader Spotlight of the day: Justin Wee
Introducing Justin Matthew Wee, the Co-Founder and COO of NexHire. NexHire is a talent referral platform that aims to connect top talent to Web3 companies and reward referrers who greatly contributed to the hiring process.
Their journey began with a simple yet powerful idea: to connect brilliant talents with their ideal career paths and to help companies discover exceptional individuals who can help them scale. Nexhire realized that the best way to achieve this is by tapping into the strength of communities and the dedication of Super Connectors.
Can you give us a background of what you do?
I actually wear multiple hats!
I’m a CoFounder and the current COO of a talent referral platform called NexHire. (We find talent for companies in emerging tech, and reward contributors in the hiring process!) We’re a three-man founding team (Ritch Traballo as CEO, and Gabriel Fordan as CTO)
I’m one of the core members of Web3PH, a community organization that pushes for web3 adoption in the Philippines.
What made you interested in Web3?
More than the technology’s promise, I got accidentally pushed into the industry (and eventually got interested) because of how immersive and active communities could be in the space. It was honestly the people that got me into it.
How is working/building in Web3 different from other industries?
Because of how new the industry is, there are technically no “experts”. So by just actively participating in the space, you get to contribute somehow to the industry’s roadmap, and shape the idea of web3 technologies even clearer.
What’s your proudest achievement in Web3?
I had an encounter with a person currently working for a blockchain platform, and she told me how most of her friends got their jobs in the space through us. It was a small encounter, but it gave me and the team the biggest fuel to continue what we do.
If there’s something you would like to change in your Web3 journey, what would it be?
Perhaps fueling my social battery more? It’d be great to constantly attend more events so I get to meet more people.
What’s the biggest problem that you think Web3 can solve?
Trust and intermediation. We currently rely on traditional intermediaries such as banks, governments or tech companies to facilitate transactions, verify identities, and enforce agreements. But with web3 tech and its push for peer-to-peer transactions, it empowers individuals for greater independence away from these traditional systems.
What’s your BTC price prediction in 2030?
It’s honestly challenging to provide an accurate price prediction for BTC, but hopefully it could reach a high of $160K
