Collecting physical copies of rare comics in mint condition has always been the dream of comic collectors. The debut of Superman in Superman #1 is one of the most sought after comic books with a mint condition copy going for as much as $5.3 million in the market. However, there are lapses to comic book collecting as goods can be damaged, flooded with counterfeit copies, and limited only to those who are in physical reach of these comic books. However, with the help of blockchain technology, Geoff McCabe’s LightningWorks aims to bridge the gap and bring comic collecting to the online world.

How LightningWorks is bridging blockchain and digital collectibles to the masses

Before LightningWorks pushed for digital collectibles through blockchain technology, they had to figure out how to curve the problem of adoption. As blockchain technology isn’t known for its user-friendly experience, they had to solve that pain point for the average user. Which is exactly why LightningWorks developed a system that works within Telegram and Whatsapp.

How does it work? Fans can get their comics right in chat apps that they already have, and don't have to download a new app or worry about blockchain stuff.  Although dealing with apps that don’t revolve around blockchain technology, users still get the benefits of Web3 tech, such as being able to actually own, resell, or give away digital collectibles.  Users can do it on global markets if they want, they aren't stuck in our own website paying the fees we want them to pay. This effort speaks volumes about the goal of LightningWork, to enable digital collectibles through blockchain technology regardless of profit.

Geoff’s vision with LightningWorks

Developing the company and writing the stories has given Geoff a new appreciation for the value of storytelling. LightningWorks’ ability to tell stories is an inherent part of what makes them human.  The more people understand stories, and especially what's known as "The Hero's Journey" then the better people start to understand many things in life, such as their own internal struggles and those of the people around you.  It helps with business too, such as understanding the story of your brand, or the stories they tell their employees to motivate them.

Collectibility has been the core of how LightningWorks operates. Enthusiasts love to obtain collectibles from the characters and stories they follow. Digital collectibles would cater well to enthusiasts who are already used to spending money on video game assets and other digital goods, but so far this hasn't been done for comics or manga. Through LightningWorks, they seek to be the go to place for digitalized collectibles.

Why you should consider checking out LightningWorks

For comic collectors and enthusiasts, there is a lot to unpack with the roadmap of LightningWorks. They will be launching two double-length comics soon which are Siege Worlds #1 and Starblind #1.  They each introduce a group of new characters and villains, as well as setting up new story universes, and both will have their own video game that's connected to the comics in interesting ways, using technology developed by LightningWorks themselves.

LightningWorks are also relentlessly experimenting with a lot of new ideas for creating the next generation of digital entertainment that allows fans to participate and even co-create these worlds along with LightningWorks.
