Bitskwela x Sonic: Equipping PLM Developers for Web3 Careers with Sonic Codecamp
Bitskwela launched Sonic Codecamp in partnership with Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) last February 15, marking a significant milestone in blockchain education. The event provided students hands-on experience in Solidity programming and smart contract deployment. Collaborating with Sonic Labs, participants explored Web3 development and on-chain application building with the Sonic Blaze network.

As one of the first hands-on blockchain workshops at PLM, the Sonic Codecamp enabled student developers to better understand the ecosystem, understand opportunities in Web3, and learn about possible use cases for Web3 in the Philippines. Participants engaged in real-time deployment of smart contracts, fostering a deeper understanding of decentralized applications (dApps) and blockchain's role in modern technology.

"The event successfully equipped student developers with Solidity and smart contract fundamentals, providing them with opportunities to explore Web3. More importantly, it fostered enthusiasm for blockchain technology among participants,"
said Jiro Reyes, CEO of Bitskwela.
The workshop highlighted the importance of smart contract fundamentals, blockchain security, and testnet environments in the development of decentralized solutions. The codecamp offered students a high-performance environment for deploying and testing their smart contracts by providing direct mentorship and access to Sonic Blaze's infrastructure.

"Seeing young developers deploy their first smart contracts is a testament to the potential of blockchain education. The workshop was about more than just technical skills—it was about preparing students for the opportunities that Web3 presents and opening doors for real career options after graduation,"
said Andrea Castillo, CEO of Bitskwela Youth.
With blockchain technology continuing to gain traction globally, initiatives like Sonic Codecamp serve as essential platforms for empowering the next generation of developers. By equipping participants with foundational skills in Solidity and exposing them to real-world blockchain applications, the program contributes to the growing pool of Web3-ready talent in the Philippines.

The success of Sonic Codecamp at PLM underscores the increasing demand for blockchain education in the country. As more institutions recognize the relevance of Web3 technologies, further initiatives are expected to emerge, providing additional opportunities for students to explore and innovate in the blockchain space.
Bitskwela will onboard more student developers to ensure that upcoming Filipino developers can participate at the forefront of blockchain innovation.
